This is an original painting by Gigi depicting a lone cicada in tall grasses. Cicada spend most of their lives underground before coming above ground, which is the time when we see and hear them. Each species has a different emergence cycle, and their songs are synonymous with summertime. This piece done with oil and encaustic medium and is framed in a 12" x 16" reddish wood frame with glass.
